Don’t you just love Ramadan? Especially this year with our masterful Egyptian idea for turning the clocks backwards and forwards to make our lives that bit easier! Aren’t we Egyptians just great at coming up with such fantastic ideas? We seem to have the kind of creativity that leaves the rest of the world gasping with disbelief, it’s true! Isn’t it just genius?! Ha ha, no one else thought of that one، did they?! Lucky us. Really, we just can’t deny the creative mind that exists in our magnificent country. For example, we want to save electricity, let’s turn off the power in a few choice areas! We want to impose traffic regulations, let’s increase the standard bribe from five pounds to fifty! We want to improve education and increase college entry standards, let’s raise the pass mark to 150%! Only in Egypt. But with all its good and bad, for some reason, you can’t help but love the madness, it’s addictive perhaps? And with this special month upon us, we remember all the traditional rituals, customs and family spirit that make us what we are, Om El Donia. Happy Ramadan everyone.
